I just opened Tumblr on a brand-new laptop that has a fresh install of Google Chrome with no extensions at all. Guess what? I got the Missing E popup again!
I personally don’t care. Fuck em, you know? But when it comes to most people who are mild-mannered and cooperative, it amounts to bullying. Essentially, Tumblr wants to punch everyone in the face for using Missing E, even pre-emptively. Even if you have no idea what it is, they will threaten you because they wrote a really bad detection script and are severely mistaken about who has it and who doesn’t. Regardless, you’re now a blacklisted Tumblr enemy and they will now treat you as such.
Who wants to be in a community where leaders have THAT kind of attitude? I don’t think anyone does. I think I’m only here at this point because that’s the price of being in contact with many people who use Tumblr. I wish there were other options.
