"I suspect the misdirection of the “phone” in “iPhone” helped Apple. By framing it merely as a cool new phone rather than a revolutionary new computing platform, Apple positioned the iPhone as something people in the mass market already thought they wanted. But I think the “iPhone” name also misdirected pundits, analysts, and competing executives who should have known better."
