So this is very odd. Apple will ship a new 21.5-inch iMac with a custom-installed solid-state drive in just 2-4 days. They will also ship a new 27-inch iMac with a custom-installed 2TB drive in the same 2-4 days. But if you want the new 27-inch iMac with a solid-state drive, that’s 4-6 weeks.
"Just get the smaller iMac", I hear you say, "since the new iMacs now come with two Thunderbolt ports, and therefore support a three-screen setup. If you have three screens, you don’t need the main one to be huge." Which is true. But! It turns out that only the 27" iMac has the dual Thunderbolt ports. If you buy the smaller iMac, the one with the greater need for extra screens — well, you can’t have them.
